FMC Best of: 2 Unlimited

Eerst had ik mijn twijfels, maar nu ben ik toch overtuigd: niet Sean Paul, maar 2 Unlimited in de nieuwe Best of. De dance-act is in 1991 opgericht en in datzelfde jaar braken ze door met de top 10-hit "Get Ready for This". En vele grote hits zouden volgen. Wat heet: 2 Unlimited heeft met hun eerste dertien hits de top 10 gehaald, een record. In 1993 scoorde de Nederlands/Belgische dance-act in zestien landen een #1-hit met "No Limit", waaronder Nederland zelf. Daarnaast hebben ze hits gescoord met "No One", "Twilight Zone" en "Let the Beat Control Your Body". En daar mag je nu op gaan stemmen in de Best of 2 Unlimited! "In da Name of Love" gaat ongetwijfled wat omhoog na wat meer beluisteren maar of het tussen de klassiekers gaat komen weet ik niet want eigenlijk vind ik alle platen nog steeds gewoon van internationale klasse ! De gedateerdheid valt reuze mee !

@ Parool. Het is wel is waar gedateerd. Je hoort ruikt de 90's er zelfs bijna vanaf. Maar hip is het zeker nu. Ik voorspel nog dit jaar dat er een nineties revival komt. Charly Lownoise en Menthal Theo gaan zelfs weer muziek uitbrengen(voorspel ik).Of de Party Animals haha

De allereerste single van 2 Unlimited is nog steeds mijn favoriet. Ik kocht de single voordat ie hier in de charts stond. in Engeland was het al een hit. Kartonnen hoesje met een stuk of 5 remixen. Echt een vernieuwende sound destijds. De rustigere nummers vond en vind ik nog steeds het minst

Wat geweldig dat 2 Unlimited in de Best Of zit! Natuurlijk moet ik ook mijn stem laten gelden bij deze helden:D.

Overigens weiger ik nog altijd het 2 Unlimited van de doorstart in 1998 als dezelfde act te zien als de Eurodancesensatie die tussen 1991 en 1996 furore maakte. Weliswaar dezelfde producers, maar 2 Unlimited zonder Ray en Anita is voor mij geen 2 Unlimited...

Geen Wanna get up en Edge of heaven dus in mijn lijstje, hoewel zeker dat laatste nummer een heel lekker liedje blijft!

Ik vind The Real Thing en Get Ready For This helemaal niet zo goed, beetje eentonig.

Daarentegen was de sound van Tribal Dance, Faces en vooral de slowdance van Nothing Like The Rain pas vernieuwend. Mijn Top 3 dus!

@ nick: Ik ben het met je eens wat betreft "Get Ready for This". Ik vind dat nummer echt geen zak aan, het is te eentonig en een heel laag meezing-gehalte. Dat laatste is wel ongelofelijk hoog bij "No Limit", vandaar dat het zo'n grote hit is.
